At Evergreen LTD, our commitment to Calgary’s urban forest goes far beyond expert tree care. We believe that cultivating healthy trees starts with cultivating informed, environmentally conscious young minds. That’s why we are proud to announce our new free educational program, where our ISA-certified arborists visit Calgary schools to teach students about trees, tree care, and environmental stewardship.
This program is completely free — our way of giving back to the Calgary community and helping to grow the next generation of tree advocates.
What Does an Arborist Actually Do?
When students hear the word “arborist,” they might picture someone simply cutting down trees. In reality, our role is much broader and more essential:
Diagnosing tree health — spotting pests, diseases, and structural problems early.
Providing proper tree care — through pruning, bracing, and soil management.
Promoting tree safety — identifying and managing risks to people and property.
Supporting biodiversity — ensuring trees thrive within Calgary’s diverse ecosystem.
Educating the public — sharing the importance of trees in our environment and daily lives.
Our ISA-certified team at Evergreen LTD is trained not only in safe tree management, but also in soil science, climate impacts, and sustainable urban planning. It's this depth of knowledge we’re eager to share with Calgary’s students.
Why Teach Kids About Trees?
Early exposure to tree care and environmental education creates lasting benefits. Our school visits help students:
Understand how trees support life — from photosynthesis to carbon capture.
Recognize and identify different tree species — and understand their needs.
Spot tree problems early — encouraging awareness of tree health.
Connect deeply with nature — developing respect and responsibility for living things.
Explore future careers — in arboriculture, forestry, and environmental sciences.
Studies show that early environmental education significantly increases lifelong eco-conscious behaviors. Teaching kids about trees today means building tomorrow’s environmental leaders.
What Evergreen LTD Offers Through Our Free Program
Through our free tree education visits, Evergreen LTD brings professional arborists directly into Calgary classrooms to deliver engaging, hands-on experiences such as:
Interactive demonstrations — showcasing tree climbing equipment and safe work practices.
Tree planting activities — empowering students to plant and care for young trees.
Simple tree identification workshops — helping students recognize Alberta's tree species.
Environmental science talks — linking classroom learning with real-world ecological care.
We design each visit to be age-appropriate, fun, and memorable — inspiring students to see trees not just as background scenery, but as vital parts of a thriving community.
